In view of the Citadel

Here's a concept sketch for the current Newfoundland dog commission. I'm using the Newfs themselves as history tourists, visiting a site crossed by another newfoundland in 1805, Seaman, with Lewis and Clark. I recognize that L&C's passage here was just a gnat's sneeze in the history of this river; I also recognize their journals triggered most of the changes that followed and they continue to be the honey bringing folks in to look more closely at what those changes have meant. It is a site I'll come back to in a future paintings; for now, I'll be happy to see these three enjoy the river evening.
